Nanakumasai & a street sink hole in Hakata

Nanakumasai-festivaaleilla oli hienoa myös perjantaina ja lauantaina! Beatboxaaja, monipuoliset tanssijat, musiikkiesitykset, ruokakojut, origamit ja kaikenlainen muu ohjelma innosti oleskelemaan kampuksella useita tunteja joka päivä. Tulin viettäneeksi siellä suunniteltua enemmän aikaa, joten sunnuntaina sai toden teolla tarttua koulutöihin, kun läksyjen lisäksi sai valmistella paria esitelmää ja aloittaa lukemisen huomenna alkaviin lukukauden välikokeisiin. Edessä on kuusi koetta, yksi kustakin japaninkielen opiskeltavasta osa-alueesta: lukeminen, kielioppi, kanjit, kirjoittaminen, kuuntelu sekä puhuminen.

[It was wonderful at the Nanakumasai festivals also on Friday and Saturday! A beat boxer, talented dancers, music performances, food places, origamis and all the other program made me spend hours at the campus area every day. I ended up spending more time there than I had planned so on Sunday I really had to work hard for my studies. In addition to the homework I had to prepare for a couple of presentations and start to read for the mid-term exams that begin tomorrow. I will have six exams, one for each course of our Japanese studies: reading, grammar, kanjis, writing, listening and speaking.]

 had amazing voice and a lot of attitude in their dancing!]

Tänään aamulla sain tietää, että varhain aamulla Hakatassa (yksi merkittävimpiä Fukuokan alueita) oli maa romahtanut keskeltä tietä. Sähköt ovat poikki sadoilta ihmisiltä ja taloja on evakuoitu siltä varalta, että sortuma laajenee. Hyvä puoli on se, että se sattui aamulla viiden aikaan, jolloin ei ollut liikennettä, eikä loukkaantuneita siten ole. [This morning I heard there was a street sinkhole in Hakata (which is one of the main areas in Fukuoka). There is no electricity for hundreds of people and some houses were evacuated in case the hole gets bigger. The good thing is that this happened at 5am when there was no traffic so nobody was injured. Säät täällä ovat nyt melko syksyisät. Monet valittavat kylmyydestä, mutta minusta ulkolämpötila on ihan hyvä vielä, kun se päivisin kohoaa 15-20 välille. Öisin lämpötila putoaa noin 10 asteeseen, mikä muuten olisi ihan siedettävää, mutta täällä kylmyys tulee myös sisälle taloihin. Huoneeni on viime päivinä ollut aamuisin todella viileä...

[The weather here is more like autumn nowadays. Many people complain that it is cold but I consider this quite okay since the temperature reaches to 15-20 on the day time. At night it is about 10 degrees which would be okay if it stayed outside. But the cold air tends to come inside too and my room has been a bit cold in the mornings...]
